lawyer with a notebook in a court building
Jun. 7th, 2005 11:30 amRecently I read an article how IT dept in Salinas court is fighting all kinds of wireless and wired attacks from contractors, lawyers, whatever - they can have infected or unprotected software on their computers. So that they have to "frisk" computers entering the network, and kind of take care of this.
Now, that's interesting. A lawyer enters a court building, that lawyer, yes, may be frisked. But not the papers, right? Not the contents of the lawyer's computer!
So, it seems like there is an oncoming war between computers. Lawyer's notebook firewall fighting off the court network attack. Trying itself to attack the network, pretending to be just a virus, for which the lawyer could hardly be held responsible. Being attacked by other lawyer's computers. Wow. There's a robot war outside.
Remember Solaris? Imagine how different parts of this thinking planet might be fighting with each other. There is a whole new world. Matrix divided.
Humans entering this brave new virtual world are like first vertebratae crawling out of the water. Mostly helpless.
