not implemented reforms
Feb. 22nd, 2006 04:07 pmProposed but not implemented reforms
These changes, or some of them, were supported by many Russian linguists, but eventually did not get accepted:
* Always writing О instead of Ё after Ж, Ч, Ш, Щ: e. g. жолтый, чорный, шолк, щотка.
* Dropping Ь (soft sign) at the end of words ending in ЖЬ, ЧЬ, ШЬ, ЩЬ: e. g. рож, ноч, мыш, мощ.
* Simplifying double consonants in borrowed words: e. g. абревиатура, акумулятор, колектив, кореспондент, асимиляция.
* Introducing a new letter, Җ (a voiced analog of Щ) — using it in such words as еҗу (езжу), доҗ (дождь), җёт (жжёт).
* Replacing all occurrences of Ц with ТС, so removing Ц from the alphabet
* Replacing all occurrences of Ё with ЙО, so removing Ё from the alphabet
* Introducing a new letter, Ў (Pronounced /w/) — using it in such names as Ўашингтон
* Introducing a new letter, Һ (Pronounced /h/) — using it in such names as Һавана
