(no subject)

A couple of days ago an interesting person that wanted to go to Africa for free and have fun there while feeling good posted this on nextdoor.com:

Something got my nerves here, and I wrote that for the money she spends on tickets etc she could provide food for hundreds of African kids; and they don't need anybody to give them food, or teach them to play; they eat themselves when they have something to eat, and play without American help.

She went furious, and responded:

With all due respect, if you have nothing nice to say THEN DONT SAY NOTHING AT ALL. It is people like YOU who talk the talk but dont WALK THE WALK. And if your information, i donate money to all those charties yearly. I've also spent my OWN time serving meals to homeless and donating my time to help children and families in need. I will not be TEACHING THEM HOW TO PLAY. I will be helping them in their education as if you were educated enough about this issue you would know how understaffed that population is with teachers and educators. Therefore, they need help from others who will not only gain the experience, but will take theri knowledge and education to help those students get one on one attention. In addition, to say the least i will also be working with physicians, administrators, support staff, patients, or families to improve morale and quality of life for countless individuals. I dont find that disrespectful, i find that HELPFUL. Educate yourself a little more and maybe youll understand.

Note this "improving morale" of African families. OMFG.

And this: "I've also spent my OWN time serving meals to homeless" - this is the part I never understood. Somehow homeless become helpless and they need someone to serve them food. They are not as helpless at night in their tents under the trees, are they?

In short, she had removed this posting right away.

So I did what? Killed kittens? Or something like that.

кстати о прериях

В кино показывают какие-то фантастические прерии, где в траве индеец на лошади может спрятаться.

В реале прерии - это полупустыни, примерно как северная Мохаве. Зайцу не спрятаться.

Это я по Небраске да Канзасу сужу... да и Колорадо недалеко ушло в этом смысле.
