I understand, algodon, almuerzo, in Spanish, stolen from Arabic. But then - how about alpaca? The Arabs did not have no alpacas, right? Turned out, it's from Aymara language; Aymara people were keeping alpacas for millenia, used their wool to make sweaters and hats.

On the other hand, there's a town called Matamoros in Mexico, now what. What kind of Moors were there in Mexico, and when. Well, turned out it's a last name. They have a street named Matamoros in Laredo, TX. Shrek (no shit it was Shrek) suggested to rename the street, after learning some Spanish. They told him it was after Mariano Matamoros. So eventually they had renamed the street to calle M.Matamoros.

Is not it a smart idea, to have someone with an offending last name, and use this pretext?
