Our big data challenge is how to sort through all of that data quickly and in a manner that satisfied the use case that we are looking for.”

“Generically, every breach has the big data problem. For example, in a malware incident that results in a breach, the malware comes in and spreads across the environment. It’s trying to map your environment to see what's there. In doing so, it touches a number of systems, all of which have logs and alerts in which the security team needs to review. Each IP addressable device has data regarding the packets, how it’s been used, who has been accessing it, etc. Depending on the severity of the breach, the security team may have to interview several people during the investigation… and then the scope expands.  

 

When that scope expands, the security team typically has to deal with a sudden increase in big data -- logs, alerts, etc. -- making budget planning critical. Right now I'm planning my budget for next year, and I hope I ask for enough disk space and computing power so that the infrastructure is prepared for future attacks. Waiting 24 hours for the next change window is a very hard problem to have, given the CEO and Board are seeking fast answers. Burst capacity is really critical for the security team who needs to find answers quickly.”

 Ну так, болею еще. И жара опять. Ну я внизу.

Из полезного сбацал бранч с тегом, типа это релиз scalakittens. Но как на него из мавна или sbt ссылаться - ума не приложу пока что. Чувствую, завтра скальщиков подергаю на митапе (спелчекер предлагает "на этапе").

Еще из полезного пытался присоединить кабельное телевидение; но в конце концов пришел к резонному выводу, что у нас его нет; что мы платим меньше 80 в месяц, и кабельное не включено. Остается провести проводочки как бы чисто теоретически, чтобы если дом продавать, так у покупателей уже это было. Ну чисто для приличия. И провести два HDMI к телевизору над камином, одно для кабельного, другое для компьютера, например. Проведу.

А так больше ничего. Итальяно поделал, ну там уровень типа "Вы пьете воду".

Вечером посмотрел первую серию сериала "Маша и Ужастики" - на нетфликсе надыбал. Писклявый такой аутентичный голос; такое ощущение, что с 1967-го года ничего не изменилось в культуре. Ну или иллюзия.

Потом попробовал смотреть Луиса СК. Через минуту вырубил и выкинул из очереди. Shitty stuff. Включил Dark Matter. Ничего особо интересного, но под это можно работать и писать дыбру.

Горло болит, и слегка насморк, а так ничо.

некоторые вещи я нахожу странными

- что люди под "подпространством" (subspace) понимают не то, что люди хоть с каким-то математическим образованием 
- что люди "размерностью" называют какие-то то ли ручки, то ли пленки, приклеенные к "обычному евклидову" (или к "обычному Минковского")
- что люди полагают, что аксиомы - это истины, добытые человечеством в борьбе с природой и другими людьми
- что непротиворечивость арифметики легко проверяется физическим экспериментом (и справедливость аксиом тоже)
- что в фантастических произведениях никто не задумывается, куда девается воздух из того места, куда кого-нибудь телепортируют

Про машины времени можно не рассуждать, там даже ньютоновской относительности нету, все предметы неподвижны.
