In the morning I saw that my "run import every day at 6am on prod" was not approved, but there was a comment. The comment was about my comment in the yml file about the meaning of the cron params, and my comment contained a mistake. Qian found that defect.
Eventually I had fixed it, it was approved, and now our job does just that, runs once a day.
Also, since I was contacting Victor about getting in touch with Jo who wrote that weird code, it turned out that Victor remembers all this. Chinese memory. So, the problem is, we have "old clients" who send wrong requests, and that's it. Since we have over 200 types of client devices... some of them are probably 10 years old... in short, better not touch it. As a result, I restored my PR with instructions, and that's it. Merged it, no need to deploy anything. Or maybe. Maybe I will, so that swagger docs show my instructions.
Then there was a "standup" (on the couch), where I bravely reported this shit; then Qian was giving a talk about how we are going to do privacy management properly (you know, there's a fucking state of California, who don't want us to keep identities of kids under 18 - although all we have is just an email... it's called CCPR). Well, whatever. I liked the way Qian organized his doc - as a spike in Jira. Will do the same.
Then we had a 1-1 with Jacob, to whom I had already, in the morning, filled the column with "actions"; some of them are just questions - but I swear to God I will never use the word "question" at work, it triggers some weird reaction. So I wrote something like "I need information regarding communicating with client teams", "I need information regarding projects/directions priorities". All that he gave me. One of the item (there was a stupid complaint about me deploying to staging an app that was failing on start - this, btw, triggered my adding an AppTest which launches an app locally and does some checks), and another complaint when Qian disagreed with me about an NPE possibly thrown in some piece of code (I'm paranoid about NPE), so I wrote something like "I will never make mistakes again". This last one gave Jacob a relaxed feeling - that I'm not crazy, that I just laugh at all this.
Actually, in the beginning I asked about the purpose of this doc, and he said it's about what to tell about the management why I'm being paid so high, and to explain how I don't need a raise or a promotion. I assured him that I'm not looking for a raise or a promotion, I'm fine the way I am.
In the end we also agreed that I will document the architecture, because it's still undocumented. Nice, right?
Anyway, after that I needed a break, so I fell asleep; then I figured I don't need a computer to think. I was thinking about how t.f. I can design a proper adapter to use to switch previously written code to play framework 2.6 (which does not use Netty, but uses AkkaHTTP (which is pretty good per se). I could think while doing some carpenter work, so that's what I did.
