Started a discussion regarding equals() in collections: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3066666

So... seems like those that understand the issue do not read java forums, and those who read java forums...

Guys, can anybody explain to me why is everyone happy to have SortedSet.equals() the same as Set.equals(), having String[].equals() very different from List.equals(), and having AbstractMap.values() return a collection that has default Object.equals() ?

Женя выдвинул прагматичную отмазку - но с архитектурной точки зрения она не канает. Нет, тут всё глубже. Похоже, большие проблемы с самим языком. И надо думать, что тут вообще можно сделать-то.
