By the end of the day I hardly remember what was going on.
Ok, since I'm on pager duty, I did fix one customer's email - we have an API for that, no clue what's inside, but at least I don't have to go do psql in prod. Good. Wrote to customer support about that. Got no confirmation from them. Weird.
Yesterday... do you remember what was happening yesterday? We have some weird hacks happening, and I suggested to log all requests as Google does, and wrote that opinions vary about logging - and Chris responded that our opinions don't vary. This is cool; I wrote something sarcastic, but not for the dumb ones to figure out. Then asked Jacob if it's okay to use sarcasm, and he said - in small dosage. With which I had wholeheartedly agreed. That was yesterday.
I would not use sarcasm with the Chinese, but the Chinese don't say stupid things, so we can talk seriously. What would Qian say to me? He would say that yes, that would be nice to have, but we are saving on S3 space. Ok. We do save some gigabytes, I know.
Then, since nothing was breaking, I checked that Qian approved my pr, and I merged it, then wrote a pr to deploy it to staging, and deployed it, and then discovered that my new API is invisible. Weird. So I investigated the code generated by Swagger. Ok, I can write a test. I wrote a test. The test passes. Weird. Now what. Anyway, probably need some logging (right).
That was the end of Friday anyway, so I've just closed my work tabs. Will be back on Monday.
