Сейчас в перерывах пересматриваю этот чудесный шедевр, Groundhog Day. (Каждое второе февраля я поздравляю Костю Суркова с праздником, а он не понимает, о чем это я.)

Конечно, Фил Коннорс сыгран изумительно; как он отвратителен в начале; чем больше я его смотрю, тем больше омерзения вызывает этот герой.

Но больше всего омерзения у меня вызывает Рита. Я не знаю, как Фил мог на эту сучку клюнуть. Тоже по глупости и самоуверенности. Я от таких держусь вообще подальше. Единственная польза от них - услышать что-нибудь умное. Это бывает вполне. Но услышать лучше на расстоянии. Ни в коем случае не раскрываться. Заклюют.

А второй фильм - American Beauty. Который я полюбил прямо с фотографии в журнале Time (который я когда-то выписывал). Я в этом фильме жалею всех, кроме полковника. Ну, Анжелка там под вопросом, но нормально, молоденькая девушка, с тараканчиками в голове.

А сегодня я узнал, как это все воспринимали ее ровесницы. 

Мерзкий старикашка вожделеет тела школьницы. (И его за это убивают.)

Так я уже сомневаюсь - может быть, Анжела и убила-съ? А что? Он же ей отказал. А у нее тараканы.

Вообще прекрасный фильм. И печальный Мне там всех жалко. Кроме полковника.

Надо будет пересмотреть.

 Okay, it was a funny monday today.

Turned on my computer, tried to get into VPN. Ok, it sends me the code to my phone, but does not show the input window to enter the code. That's Cisco Any Connect. Repeated it about half a dozen times, stopped Cisco, restarted Cisco. Did not work. Then I rebooted. Did not work. But, otoh, half of my tabs in Chrome just disappeared. Did not I feel some relief? Well, I kind of did.

It turned out actually that everybody was having this problem with Cisco. Some blamed their network, some just complained.

Meanwhile, the project I've been working on stopped compiling. I mean, it was showing Java errors (it had some generated Java code inside).

I started investigating. No clue. I had the same project, but master version, in another directory (I have just two directories for parallel development, in Salesforce I had four). Same shit. Same shit. Started investigating deeper.

What I found: I have a different JDK now? Something called "Semaro", from IBM. I know IBM has been brain-dead for about 30 years. Not it pushes, magically, via Apple, its buggy JDK. Enforces.

So I spent some time looking for what exactly build of Java 8 should I use, and where to get it. Seems like OpenJDK's 8 is kind of gone. And we are still on Java 8.

Discussed it with Jeremy; he suggested using sdkman.- ok, I installed sdkman. Did it help? Not exactly.

Eventually I just found a release of openjdk 8, installed it manually. The only problem, IntelliJ does not recognize it, and insists on having that Semaro, which I had already deleted.

But gradually IntelliJ got used to the one I use. 

Chris still discusses the one-liner fix. Now he is objecting to the contents of README file, where i listed JVM GC recommendation from Oracle, together with the link to Oracle. Ok, I already mentioned "cargo cult". I guess I should be using this term more frequently, to scare the shit out of this idiot.

But since it started working on my machine - that including the mysql server that was dead all Sunday - I was able to grap proper logs for the doc. Wrote a doc, showed it to Karen, and asked her, what would she suggest next, show it to the team, or? She suggested to get the graphs from Grafana. Omfg, how can I get graphs from Grafana if my stuff is not deployed? So I just grabbed the graph that shows memory leak. Had more discussions with her, regarding what is missing in a three-page explanation why we need a one-liner jvm parameter. 

Playing an idiot... I really don't like it, especially if one idiot is playing a Wise Man caring about performance.

Tomorrow I'll have a 1-1 with Karen, and I will suggest, if Chris is still resisting, to close this case with "won't fix". Let Chris fix it. He's jealous, Qian is jealous. That's our profession, everyone is jealous. As if I'm fucking their wives in the background.
