Checked my two PRs that were waiting for a review (one - since June or something). Pinged them, via `/remind`.
Tried to read the "doc" that looks like a doc, but it does not, just an old diagram (how things worked earlier), and a stream of incomprehensible words "how things should be".
Suddenly, Esteban decided to show his leadership qualities, and asked me how I'm doing with my part, and whether anything will be ready by Wednesday. I let him know that information is still missing, and in the doc I started describing the endpoints, then wrote several questions and suggestions what exactly we need to document before things are ready to be coded (not a big deal, just small pieces that connect requests to another service and format responses.
Except that it's not clear, which of the two servers receives which requests.
And we scheduled a zoom for 2pm. I thought it was my time, but Bogota is one hour to the West. Ok, 3pm. Now I can play with my own stuff.
Then Esteban asked to move it a little bit further down. So we met at 3:30.
I had questions. I expected the guy to work together with me on the doc. But no. He started showing me pieces of code, one server and another. I was asking questions. This "magic link" service, which endpoint belongs to it. This one. What information does it accept. Some secret stuff. Where does this secret stuff come from, that other server? No, from the client. How do they generate that secret stuff? We generate it. Based on what? Based on the secret data we receive from the client.
About 15 minutes later another endpoint started, if you listen to him, migrating from one service to another, and back.
And I asked him to update the docs with his own hand, and then we'll discuss.
And then what happened was exactly what vit_r described very recently. Esteban said that he would not do any documentation, he will be just writing code. And started showing me his code... modifying it in the process, every time, when I asked this or that question, saying "it's a good question", and modifying the code so that it would look like it answers my question.
I enjoyed the show. But then another meeting was supposed to start, so I told him, ok, let's talk later.
Then there was a meeting with Jeremey. Ok, scheduled meeting with Jeremey, my almost-former manager. He did not show up. Meaning, I could do my French, eh.
Then we had a "standup", and I showed which PRs are waiting for review (you have to formulate it properly, so that it does not look like you complain, but like you have accomplished something). One of Jira cases eventually was closed without my participation, just after I copy-pasted Mike's comments to Jira. Bureaucracy march! Then I mentioned how that other case requires more information, because... I did not have the chance to say "because", because Esteban interrupted and started explaining that we should meet again and discuss. I bet he complains to the management that I'm a slow idiot that does not get it. Well, actually, today I did spend enough time to get it. The functionality is not elaborated and not documented. Esteban plans to show his achievements to the "online team", and hear how they applaud or ask for more endpoints. Did I tell you that we have almost 2000 endpoints? Feel free to choose, it's like an Amazon store of endpoints.
Now, do I complain? Do I feel angry? No way! They pay me for my presence online. I was never paid so much for an hour of actual work.
