This perception is pretty much widespread. Look here: someone complains on close-votes, but fails to even consider the possibility that 'what if I'm doing something wrong'. In his/her understanding, their posts are always bright and shiny. Sad!

Since I find all this elitism pretty ridiculous, it's just an entertainment to me. I go to SO to find answers; I'd love to give mine, but so far I don't see where I can be helpful.

If you're too picky as to what questions to answer then, yes, it may be a problem to be helpful. I think there still should be enough basic questions about computing and stuff you've done at some point (dunno, between like 30 years ago and now). Suggesting dups may be helpful as well.

Серьезно, приходите. На Politics народ is much more invested and biased, чем на Stack Overflow — ну, потому что политика ж. Тем не менее, активно гоняют неонаци, антисемитов, антиарабов и прочу всяку срань.

Модераторы вменяемые и элитизмом не страдают. Но вату дрючат оперативно. Тот же @Philipp — вроде, он чех — хотя я его и недолюбливаю, потому что он в своё время несправедливо подосрал мое модераторство на Politics.SE. Но то дела минувших дней, я б и не вытянул по усилиям.

I am a female developer, and I answered "no" to the survey question that asked if you felt as though you are part of the SO community.

Immediately after the survey, they said that a lot of women had replied "no" to this question, and therefore something would be done.

This seems like rather scant evidence of a problem, and I feel that SO took my answer along with others, and used it to support their own pre-conceived feminist ideas, which is not very nice.

Before jumping to the conclusion that women are delicate little flowers needing special treatment, and that SO is sexist, they could have tried to get more information, for example how do people feel about spending a lot of time on SO? (I'm too busy with real life) or which other internet communities do people feel a part of? (none).

I sim to be not a girl. I don't find examples of sexism offensive. I find extremely offensive when set of lower standards and/or no standards implied for girl's succeeding.

And, incidentally, I don't find these comments sexist, regular foreplay, nothing more :) women sometimes make really bad comments and no one dares to mark them sexist.

I remember that when an organization I was working for started to enforce stricter dress code - the only targets of that dress code restriction were females.
It was surprising to me back then, but after some thinking I realized that penalizing females is the most natural outcome of strict corporate rules like that.
