I don't know what changed. A couple of years ago I could not force myself to look at this crap. Now I see an amazing movie. Yes, a comedy. Amazing.

There is also an idea that laughter makes people free. I disagree. We know very well how "smiling slaves" (Nabokov about soviet people) look like, with their infinite "anecdotes". It's a culture of slavery. Холопские забавы.

Laughter does not make people free, no. It makes easy to accept shocking things. The entire culture of the USSR was based on this acceptance and ignoring of slavery, poverty and misery. The filmmakers simply exploited it.
It's similar to erotic Nazi-exploitation movies from 1970s, "Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS", "Gestapo's Last Orgy" etc.
But with commies and without boobs.

I don't disagree. And I know that such things EXIST. But their existence doesn't automatically lead me to acceptance. It's just the question of a personal taste. My taste doesn't accept this "singerie" style. I don't blame those who accept it. It's just not my cuppa...

"It makes easy to accept shocking things."

Yes, an anesthetic drug.
